Life Story for
Leonarda Oliveri (Terlizzi)
Leonarda Dina Oliveri, of Brewster, NY, passed away with her family at her side at Westchester Medical Center after a courageous battle against cancer on Monday, February 20, 2017. She was 63 years old.
Dina was born on February 1, 1954 in Orsara di Puglia Italy, daughter to Anthony and Rocchina Terlizzi of Mt. Kisco, NY. At five months old she traveled to the US with her mother on the SS Andrea Doria. She was raised in Bedford Hills, NY. Dina graduated from Fox Lane High School and continued her education at Utica College where she received a Bachelors in Science in 1977.
Dina married the love of her life Frank Oliveri on June 24, 1978 in Katonah, NY. Together, they built a beautiful home in Brewster NY where they have lived for the past 34 years.
Mrs. Oliveri was an occupational Therapist at Lakeview Elementary School in Mahopac, NY for 16 years before having to retire. She absolutely loved her job and working with children every day. She enjoyed traveling to new places with her family and was an amazing cook. Her greatest passion in life was her family, Dina cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her positive attitude and her ability to brighten the world with a smile.
Dina is survived by her loving husband Frank of Brewster, NY; her children; Richard Oliveri and his wife Emeline of Campbell, CA and Danielle Helminger and her husband Jeffrey of Brewster, NY, her two grandchildren; Jackson and Olivia Helminger and her siblings; Michael Terlizzi and Maria Cacciola.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday February 24, 2017 at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster, NY at 10 am. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery. Friends and family may visit Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY on Thursday February 23, 2017 from 4pm-8pm.
