Life Story for Emma Dexter

Emma M. Dexter, of Fishkill, NY, formerly of Brewster, NY, died peacefully on September 18, 2017 at Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh, NY, after a long battle with cancer. She was 74 years old.
Mrs. Dexter was born on February 8, 1943 in Mahopac, NY, daughter to the late George C. and Esther Mae (Coughlin) Tompkins. On October 25, 1964 she married the love of her life, William P. Dexter in North Salem, NY. William predeceased his wife on May 30, 2013.
Emma was a supervisor in the data entry department with The Donald Grenier Corp. in Mahopac, NY beginning in 1982. Following her job with the Donald Grenier Corp. she worked as an office tech with Amica Insurance in Bethel, CT.
Mrs. Dexter was a member of the United Methodist Church in Brewster, NY. She was also an avid Elvis Presley fan and was constantly collecting anything relating to him. She enjoyed word search puzzles in her past (free) time. In her youth, Emma loved bowling. Her greatest passion in life was her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha and her Son in Law, Allan Brideau, her Granddaughters, Tiffany DeCarlo and Kiersten Chaffee, their spouses; Dominic DeCarlo and Shayne Chaffee, and her Great Grandchildren, Vanessa and Dominic DeCarlo. Her siblings; Helen Eaton, Thomas Merrigan, Pete Daley, James Daley and Daniel Daley. She was predeceased by her brother Wallace Daley.
A graveside service will be held at 1pm at Raymond Hill Cemetery, Carmel, NY, on Friday September 22, 2017. Interment will immediately follow the service. Visitation will be held prior to the graveside ceremony from 10am-12pm at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY 10509.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Emma may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s research hospital and/or American Cancer Society.
