Maureen  Lobraico (Barker)
Maureen V. Lobraico, 80, passed away unexpectedly from medical complications on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018 at her home in Conyers, Georgia. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine (Charles) Myers; granddaughters Kimberly (Robert) Butler and Kaitlin Stephens; great-grandchildren J. Wesley Franklin, Lillian Todd, and Lucas Todd.

Maureen was born September 13, 1937 in Manhattan, New York; the daughter of George and Mary Barker. Maureen was a graduate of Brewster High School and later received a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration and a Master’s degree in Counseling Education - both from Western Connecticut State College in Danbury. In 1958, she married Nicholas T. Lobraico, who preceded her in death in 1960.

Maureen volunteered with the Putnam Lake Fire Department, serving as Director of the Drum Corps Parade Unit. She worked for the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department for several years as a communications dispatcher before beginning a 15-year career with the Department of Social Services as an Investigator. In 1982, Maureen opened her own real estate business, Action Associates, and held her Real Estate Broker’s license for more than 30 years.

Maureen was a member of numerous community organizations, including Putnam County Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary (Drum Corps and Parade Unit), Brewster Elk’s Lodge, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and the Putnam County Deputy Sheriff’s Association. Maureen spent more than 60 years in Brewster and Putnam Lake, New York before relocating to Conyers, Georgia to be closer to her family.

Maureen had a lifelong love of boating, swimming, crocheting, quilting, and various other arts & crafts. Her Yorkshire terrier dogs were her pride and joy. She loved to travel, particularly to England and Ireland, and spent countless hours compiling her family’s genealogy. Maureen was a cherished member of her family, and her strong-willed personality will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas T. Lobraico; mother, Mary Frances Barker (Lewis); and father, George Barker.

Visitation for family and close friends will be held at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave, Brewster, NY on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 4-8pm. A Mass will be celebrated by Deacon Mark Shkreli at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 414 Haviland Drive, Patterson, NY, on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00am. Interment to follow at St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery. The Brewster Elk’s Lodge will host a luncheon reception immediately following.
