Life Story for Sharon Lee Gaffney

Sharon Lee "Sherry" Gaffney of Brewster, NY, passed away peacefully, Tuesday May 17, 2016 at her home with her family by her side. She was 74 years old.

Sherry was born on February 26, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY, daughter to the late Henry and Elaine (Masse) Dorff. She graduated from Jamaica High School at age 16, and graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a Bachelors in Speech and Communications

On February 24, 1979 she married Robert "Bob" Gaffney in Carmel, NY. In 1974 they purchased their home in Brewster on the reservoir. In 1991 they moved their family there permanently. Her view of the reservoir always brought her peace and tranquility.

Sherry was a producer with both Wells Rich Greene Advertising, and Bob Gaffney Productions in Manhattan, NY. Together she and her husband traveled the world filming commercials and movies. Even after she retired she was "ever the producer", organizing parties and other events for the people she cared for.


Mrs. Gaffney enjoyed painting and arts & crafts so much that she created Sherry’s Keepsakes. Everyone who met Sherry loved her; she was a people person. Her greatest passion in life was her family, she loved them all dearly.

Sherry is survived by her daughter Lizz Gaffney (Charlie Burrows) of Carmel, NY, her stepsons Paul Gaffney of Weston, CT, Brian Gaffney of Portland, OR and Robert Gaffney of St. James, NY, her 8 grandchildren, Ella Burrows, Alec, Jimmy, Oliver, Devin, Griffin, Jack and Dylan Gaffney, her brother Steve Dorff, her nieces Callie and Kaitlyn, her nephews Stephen and Andrew and her significant other of 7 years Jack Fitzsimons. She was predeceased by her husband Robert in 2009
A memorial visitation will be held on June 16th, 2016 from 10:30 to 12:30 at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY. She requested that people wear bright happy colors because it will be a remembrance of life. Internment will be private.
