Brooker Logan Smith Jr of Brewster, NY passed away peacefully on June 29, 2020 following a four year battle with brain cancer. He was 61.

Brooker was born on November 26, 1958 in Mt. Kisco, NY to the late Brooker Logan and Ruth Charlotte (O’Neil) Smith. Brooker was raised in Croton Falls, graduated from North Salem High School and attended Westchester Community College. He loved cars and was a successful mechanic and “trouble shooter” during his career. Brooker most enjoyed working for the State of New York as a mechanic at Sing Sing Prison. His career was cut short following a vehicle accident. The resulting injuries resulted in chronic back problems and pain which he suffered for the remainder of his life. In later years Brooker enjoyed working with computers and developed close relationships with his clients as a result of his ability of identify and resolve their computer problems.

In addition to his cars Brooker enjoyed camping and spent over 20 years traveling and camping with his wife, their dogs and parrot, in Tennessee and the Carolinas. The last 10 years were spent at a seasonal campsite in Copake, NY.

Brooker is survived by his loving wife and companion of 38 years, Judith Colsey Smith, his two dogs and his African Grey Parrot. He was close to his cousins, B. Hawley Smith and Marguerite Broyhill, and his close friend, Lillian Hickok.

Brooker and his wife thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Danbury Hospital Praxair Cancer Center and Infusion Center and a special thanks to the staff of Hospice Care in Westchester and Putnam for their wonderful care and support.

A viewing will be held on Monday, July 6, from 4 to 8 pm. He will be cremated on July 7 and interment will be at a later date
