Obituary

Charles P. Smyth, of Patterson, NY, died peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. He was 78 years old.
Born on March 15, 1941 in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of Michael Francis and Mary (McNamara) Smyth. Charlie was a graduate of St. Simon Stock High School in the Bronx and the Iron Worker Apprentice Program.
On April 25, 1970 he married the love of his life and best friend Eileen Callahan at the Good Shepard Church in Manhattan, NY.
Charlie was an accomplished Iron Worker and Welder for the Iron Workers Local 40 out of Manhattan, NY for 45 years, retiring in 2011. He had lived in Patterson, NY since 1974, the Bronx prior.
Charlie was past president and member of the Patterson Volunteer Fire Department since 1975, a member of the Charles Bajart Jr. Post 1122 of the American Legion in Yonkers, NY, a member of the Purple Heart Association, and the Fr. Breen Council of the Knights of Columbus in Putnam Lake, NY. Charlie had a passion for Golf and played as often as he could.
Charlie is not only survived by his loving wife Eileen of 49 years but also his sons; Michael Smyth of New Rochelle, NY and Timothy Smyth (Antoinette) of Bronx, NY; his sister, Rosemary Ward (William) of Haworth, NJ; his grandson Kieran and his great granddaughter Alejandra (Ale). Also, he is survived by the extended family of the Callahan’s, Dugan’s, Brannigan’s, and many nieces, nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 11:00am at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1 Doherty Drive, Lake Carmel, NY. A private cremation will follow. Friends may call on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY from 4pm-8pm.

So sorry to hear Charlie’s passing. It will be 20 years this week since Bobby died. Can you imagine what a great reunion they are having? So many thoughts come to mind but most of all those that remind me of what good buddies they were and how they always had each other’s back. Keeping you all in my heart and prayers.
