Edgar A. Rogers (Ed) passed away peacefully on February 26, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was 93 years old.

Born on October 12, 1926 in White Plains, N.Y., son of the late Paul R. Rogers & Helen (Zigmund) Rogers.

During WWII he enlisted in the United States Navy a few weeks after his seventeenth birthday. He served in the USN Pacific Theater 1943-1946. When he returned, he graduated from White Plains High School and attended University of Miami.

On February 2, 1947 he married the love of his life, Angeles (Ann) Zarraonandia whom he had met prior to his service. Together they lived in Valhalla, N.Y. for 21 years before moving to Croton Falls, N.Y. in 1978.

Ed was a railroad conductor for Metro North, formerly NY Central, for 41 years before retiring in 1988. He was a hardworking, devoted family man. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, boating on Candlewood Lake and doing crossword puzzles. He was an amazing long-distance swimming and his family loved watching him beautifully glide across the ocean water in Florida during family vacations. He cherished his “two girls” Linda and Debra, and loved sharing stories about them. He absolutely adored his grandchildren and loved cooking up favorite meals during sleepovers and playing boardgames, especially learning and playing chess. He looked so forward to attending dance recitals, his highlight this year was attending his great granddaughter Kayley’s, Nutcracker show in December with his family. You could always find him at his grandson’s baseball games, library story times and he loved giving rides to all his grandchildren and great grandchildren! You could always depend on him. The enjoyment that gave him was visible with his boyish grin and the love in his eyes.

Ed is survived by his “beautiful bride” and loving wife of 73 years, Ann, his loving daughters Linda Kennon and her husband, devoted son-in law, Richard (his pal Rick) of Brewster, N.Y., Debra Saraceno of Brewster, N.Y., his 5 grandchildren; Jennifer (Robert), Kristin, Richard, James (Genie), Dennis Jason(Cheyanne), and his 5 great grandchildren, Kayley and Aidan Decina, Grant Kennon, and Peyton and Lucas Saraceno. He was predeceased by his brother Don.

Visitation will be on Monday March 2, 2020 from 4pm-7pm at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, N.Y. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday March 3, 2020 at St. Josephs Cemetery, Somers, N.Y. at 12PM. Internment will immediately follow.

Always so happy to hear good things that happened for family and friends. Often referred to by his grandchildren as “the real deal,” He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
