Gerhard J. Isop, 85, of Croton Falls, NY, passed away on October 22, 2019. Born in Lokau, East Prussia in Germany, he immigrated to the United States on Halloween 1958. He worked as a carpenter for contractor Mike Furio until 1970. He then co-founded Scope Builders, Inc. and acted as President until it dissolved in 1974. At that time, he opened Gerhard Isop, Inc., Contractors and Builders. He retired in 1996 leaving his sons to continue the business, although he continued to work part time for many years.

He was a charter member of the North Salem Ambulance Corps and served as a member for years. He also belonged to the North Salem Chamber of Commerce where he served on the Board of Directors for one term.
Gerhard loved the outdoors, hiking, fishing, and was a lifelong camper. He made several road trips across the US with various members of his family, fulfilling his fascination with the Alaskan highway. He loved America’s National Park System and visited many of them. He was also a history buff and enjoyed studying the financial market.

Gerhard is survived by his wife Waltraud aka “Lucky”; his son Roland and his wife Kathy Isop of Carmel, NY; his son J. Gerhard Isop and his life partner Laura Cushing of Pound Ridge, NY; his daughter Diane and her husband Sean Walsh, of Killingworth, CT; six grandchildren Courtney Flandreau, Hannah and Dustin Isop, and Connor, Brendan, and Annelise Walsh; and three great grandchildren Skylar, Cameron, and Garrison Flandreau.
Calling hours will be Saturday, October 26, 3-5 pm at Beecher Funeral Home in Brewster, NY.
