Obituary

Gladys Hachgontz Salvo 6/13/1938-4/10/2020, of Somers, NY died on Friday. She was 81 years old.
Born in New York City to the late Adroujan Hachgontz and Alice N. Manigian Hachgontz. The maternal granddaughter of the late Rev. Matteos Manigian and Azniv Kazazian Manigian who started the first Armenian Apostolic Church and Sunday school, St. Illuminators on 27th St. New York City. Her paternal grandparents were Tviat Hachgontz, a well-known historian from Constantinople, Turkey, and Angel Ohanian Hachgontz. Her husband Samuel R. Salvo predeceased her on 9/11/2001 when he died in the World Trade Center attack. Her brother David H. Hachgontz also predeceased her on May 15, 2019.
Mrs. Salvo’s greatest love was her grandchildren; she loved to spoil them. She enjoyed gardening and spending her afternoons watching soap operas. She was a member of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
Gladys is survived by her two children. Her son David R. Salvo and his wife Danielle, her two grandsons Zachary Samuel Salvo and Matthew Louis Salvo of Brewster, NY. Her daughter Susan R. Glick and her husband Michael, her two grandsons Samson Jay Glick and Greyson Montgomery Glick of Ardsley, NY.
Mrs. Salvo will be greatly missed. A private service will be taking place. Her ashes will be placed at Ferncliff Cemetery. Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY assisted the family with arrangements.
Donations may be made in her name to the St. Gregory the Enlightener Church, 1131 North Street, White Plains, NY and/or the American Cancer Society and/or the American Heart Association or you can plant a tree in her memory.
