Martha J. Dunphy, of West Cape May, NJ, formerly of Hartsdale, NY, died in the comfort of her family at her sister’s home on March 24, 2020. She was 74 years old.
Born on October 11, 1945 in White Plains, NY daughter of the late William and Adelaide (Condit) Dunphy. She was a 1963 graduate of White Plains High School. She continued her education and received a master’s degree in social work from Fordham University.
Martha has been with the love of her life Sharon Werth for almost 30 years. Together they fulfilled their lifelong dream of living in West Cape May, they were able to still enjoy retirement with each other even though it only began two years ago.
Martha was a social worker with Meadowview at the Wartburg in Mt. Vernon, NY for 10 years before retiring in 2015. One of her greatest passions was being a Deacon at Grace Episcopal Church, White Plains, NY; she devoted 20 years of her life to Grace Episcopal Church and being a Deacon. Martha loved Cape May. Martha and Sharon were active members of Advent Episcopal Church in West Cape May, NJ after moving in 2017. She enjoyed golfing and loved dogs.
Martha is survived by her loving partner Sharon, her siblings; William (Lori) Dunphy and Barbara Vigliotti, several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her brother Robert Dunphy in 2006.
A private cremation will take place. Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY assisted the family with arrangements. When life settles down the family will hold a celebration of life at Grace Episcopal Church, White Plains, NY.
