Obituary

Michael Richard Canarozzi, otherwise known as Buddy, to his grandchildren or Pinch Pop to his sons, passed away unexpectedly on the evening of February 23, 2020 at the age of 77. He died quickly and peacefully.

Michael was born in NY City on June 1, 1942 and officially died February 24, 2020. He lived in Sunnyside, Queens with his parents Mary and Michael and two brothers, Donald and Anthony. Michael’s Dad’s official spelling of his last name was Cannarozzi. His father decided to take off one “n” to Americanize the last name. Michael was predeceased by his parents and brother Anthony.

Michael attended St. Francis College where he received a bachelor’s degree in history. After graduating, he joined the Marine Reserves.

Michael lived in Queens until the age of 25. He got married to Veranda A. Marciano on April 17, 1965. Michael and Veranda met at a dance. Michael and Veranda raised three children (Christina, Michael and Stephen) in Brewster, NY. Michael commuted to NY City on a daily basis. He worked at the Dept. of Social Services as a caseworker than became a supervisor. He worked at this facility for 35 years. He was a diligent, caring and respected employee and friend.

Michael has 9 grandchildren, Natalie, Abigail and Joanna Van Slyke, Madison, Taylor, Natalie and John Michael Canarozzi. He adored his grandchildren and loved to spend time with them and watch them grow.

Michael enjoyed talking about politics, history, spending time with his family and hanging out with his dog Jake. He got a lot of pleasure for visiting Maine, watching the ocean, spending time at the beach and enjoying a good sundae!

Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
