Obituary

Robert W. Vrabel, of Brewster, NY, died peacefully at Candlewood Valley Health Care Center, New Milford, CT on Sunday September 20, 2020. He was 69 years old.
Born on August 23, 1951 in Yonkers, NY, son of the late Harry W. and Ruth (Lawless) Vrabel of Brewster, NY. Mr. Vrabel graduated from North Salem High School and received his bachelor’s in business administration from Pace University.
On May 15, 1976 Bob married the love of his life Andrea Canzoneri at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster.
Robert was a crane operator with IUOE Union in Briarcliff Manor for over 30 years before retiring in 2013. However, retirement did not last long, and he continued working on several large projects. He loved the outdoors, whether sitting on the porch of the family cabin outside of Cooperstown, NY or on the shores of Cape Cod, surrounded by his family. He enjoyed music especially Rock and Roll and sports cars. His greatest passion in his life was his family, most importantly his 4 grandchildren.
Besides his wife Andrea of 44 years and his mother Ruth, Robert is survived by his 2 sons; Robert W. Jr and his wife Jessica of Brewster, NY and Ryan C. and his wife Eva of New Fairfield, CT, his grandchildren; Madison B., Robert P., Ryan C. Jr. and Erik C. and his siblings; Carol Lynn Philhower of Millbrook, NY and Laura Ann Vrabel DePaoli of Millbrook, NY. His father Harry predeceased him in 2018.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday September 24, 2020 at 12pm at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church. Friends may call on Thursday morning just prior to the funeral mass at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY from 9:30am-11:30am. A private cremation will follow the funeral mass.

My deepest condolences to the entire family. I spoke to Ryan last week, and I know he was hopeful that Bob would get strong and share more time with his family and grand children. Bob texted me Aug. 31st he said he hoped to get well soon. He was a wonderful friend and neighbor, always checking on my house and stopping by to chat. He will be missed terribly. I am so sorry for your loss.
Sunny xoxo

Always enjoyed sitting on the beach at Bayview sharing a Corona and shooting the breeze with Bob. You truly are a wonderful man and gentle soul. Heaven will be a better place with you there. Always look down on your family. My condolences to your family.
Our deepest sympathy, Patty, Andy and Lucy.

Thank you Patty, Andy and Lucy, As Bob displayed one of his favorite places was Cape Cod and he spoke so highly of you all....especially shooting the breeze with you Patty!!! He really did treasure all our friends up there and smiled anytime he spoke of the fun days with you all, Alan, Todd, Barbara and Family and the beauty and nature all around him. Bob’s smile could light up a room and it often did. XO
