Obituary

Steven Jerome Johnson of Brewster, NY passed away Friday, June 19, 2020, unexpectedly and tragically. He was 26 years old.
Steven was born in Brewster at Putnam Hospital on October 11, 1993. He graduated from Brewster High School in 2012. Steven was most recently working as a laborer in landscaping, construction, and maintenance.
He loved the outdoors – exploring and hiking. He was a good and loyal friend to many people. He always had an open heart and a sympathetic ear. He was funny and had a beautiful smile. He was a gentle soul and a protector. He was handsome and charming. He was smart and interested in all things around him – inquisitive and opinionated. He loved his dogs – Junior and Honey – and all the fosters he had a hand in loving. Steven lived life in the moment.
Steven was a man of Christian faith and recently stepped out to help others to find that faith.
Steven leaves behind his family who loved him very deeply. He is survived by his mother Jennifer Johnson (John Hall) and his father Jerome Johnson (Karen Johnson) of Brewster; his brothers Brendan (Nicole Romano) (Poughkeepsie, NY) and Luke, his sisters Kate (Bobby Newman) (Meriden, CT) and Joy; his uncle Scott Twomey (Karen) (Cranford, NJ); his aunt Julie Chang (Francis) (Bronxville, NY); his great uncle John Greg (Flushing, NY); and his grandmother Geraldine Baker (Tavares, FL). Steven was a new uncle to Victoria (Brendan) and Grayson (Kate), and looking forward to these new responsibilities. Steven is also survived by the Egan family in Boca Raton, FL Richard and Lorraine, Lauren, and her son Liam, Ricky (Stacey)(Clayton, NC) and Colin and Conner, who were so important and meaningful in his life and who loved him dearly.
No memorial service is planned at this time until the family can gather.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Community Church (https://gcc.kindful.com/) where he was a member of the community and his father serves as associate Pastor; or to Rescue Dogs Rock NYC (https://rescuedogsrocknyc.org/help/).
